Rio de Janeiro (RJ) -In the morning of August 31, members of the the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) visited Sergio Vieira de Mello Municipal School, in Leblon, in order to celebrate World Humanitarian Day. The Brazilian National Anthem was sung and, following there was a lecture for the students on the life of SergioVieira de Mello and on the ways to join the Army. Recrutinha comic book was also distributed to the kids.
Rio de Janeiro - Between August 20 and 24, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried out the Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC), which aims at spreading knowledge regarding coordination tasks in United Nations operations. This was the first edition to take Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN) fourth year cadets as attendees.
Rio de Janeiro - In the morning of August 21, Colonel Machado, Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese), along with his Deputy Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ayres, received the visit of the Canadian Defense Military Attaché in Brazil, Captain (Navy) Réal Brisson.
Santa Maria (Rio Grande do Sul) – Between August 06 and 17, a Mobile Training Team from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) was deployed to Santa Maria, a Brazilian southern city, in order to carry out Training Instructions for Air Units, which are available for the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System (UNPCRS).
Rio de Janeiro – On August 17, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) finished the Mine Action Course, which lasted five weeks and had theoretical and practical exercises. The aim of the course was at training Brazilian military personnel as well as from friendly nations to be monitors or supervisors in demining missions under the aegis of international organisms.
Lima, Peru - Between August 06 and 10, the Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese), Colonel Machado, participated in the 10th General Assembly of the Latin American Peace Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ), which was held in Lima, Peru. The Brazilian delegation had representatives from the Defense Ministry, Brazilian Navy and Air Force and from the Peace Missions, Aviation and General Inspectorate of the Military Police office of the Land Operations Command.
