CCOPAB’s Commander participates in ALCOPAZ General Assembly
Lima, Peru - Between August 06 and 10, the Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese), Colonel Machado, participated in the 10th General Assembly of the Latin American Peace Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ), which was held in Lima, Peru. The Brazilian delegation had representatives from the Defense Ministry, Brazilian Navy and Air Force and from the Peace Missions, Aviation and General Inspectorate of the Military Police office of the Land Operations Command.
In this edition of the meeting, the main theme was the “Innovation in training and building of capabalities in complex scenarios” and there was the representation of the Armed Forces of eleven countries that are members of ALCOPAZ: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Equator, Guatemala, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay and Peru.
Themes as current and future Peace Operations, Humanitarian Operations, the increase of Blue Helmets’ security and the building of capabilities to strengthen peace operations.
Brazil presented the lessons learned during Viking Exercise 2018, held last April in Brasília, and the Humanitarian Logistic Task Force in Roraima, where Acolhida Operations is taking place in order to support Venezuelan immigrants.
Igarapé Institute also participated in the meeting by videoconference held by Dr. Eduarda Hamann.
There was also the presence of representatives from cooperating countries as Germany, Canada and USA, as well as members of civilian organizations and guest institutions.
