Montevidéu (URU) – From 5 to 19 May, Captain LUCAS BASTOS DE SOUZA, from the Brazilian Peace Operation Joint Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - took part in the Training of Trainers Course on Comprehensive Protection of Civilians (TOT on CPOC), carried out by Integrated Training Service from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations. It took place in the National School of Peacekeeping Operations from Uruguay.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – 22 May, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) – Sergio Vieira de Mello Center – received the visit of Admiral LISEO ZAMPRONIO, Chief of Staff Officer from the Navy. The aim of this visit was to get to know CCOPAB and its capabilities, because Admiral LISEO ZAMPRONIO is going to be deployed to work as a Military Adviser at a Brazilian Permanent Mission at UN, in New York.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – 17 May, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) – Sergio Vieira de Mello Center – finishes the Military Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese). COL Machado, CCOPAB's commander, carried out the closure ceremony, as well as COL Negrão, Chief of Division of Mission Peace Operations from Land Operation Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese). The Military Experts on Mission Course, which is carried out entirely in English, has practical and theoretical lessons. It is carried out entirely in English. It has to do with getting military and police personnel ready to take action as Staff Officers, Military Observer and UNPOL.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On 15 May, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, received the Joint Staff Officer entourage from Armed Forces. The aim of this visit was to know the structure and the capabilities of CCOPAB.
Curitiba (PR) – From 7 to 9 May, the Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center, COL Machado, took part in an academic week from International Relations at UNICURITIBA. At the occasion, COL Machado delivered a lecture on “Peacekeeping Operations as a tool to solve conflicts” for Law and International Relations students.
Rio de Janeiro, RJ – On 3 May, an entourage from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) – Sergio Vieira de Mello Center – visited a French Navy Task Force group made up of amphibious assault helicopter carriers (BPC – Bâtiment de Projection et de Commandement) Tonnerre – L 9014, “Mistral” trademark and a frigate La Fayette – F 710, docked at the Rio de Janeiro Port.
