CCOPAB finishes the Military Experts on Mission Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – 17 May, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) – Sergio Vieira de Mello Center – finishes the Military Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese). COL Machado, CCOPAB's commander, carried out the closure ceremony, as well as COL Negrão, Chief of Division of Mission Peace Operations from Land Operation Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese). The Military Experts on Mission Course, which is carried out entirely in English, has practical and theoretical lessons. It is carried out entirely in English. It has to do with getting military and police personnel ready to take action as Staff Officers, Military Observer and UNPOL.
The activity finished with a task on the ground at Gericinó Instruction Camp. It was the last task in order to get them ready for PKOs at UN. The aim of this task was to get them in touch with daily life activities during their missions. To get the best out of it, students from the Brazilian Institute of Medicine and Rehabilition (IBMR, acronym in Portuguese)
At this stage of the Military Experts on Mission Course, CCOPAB invited instructors from Brazil and friendly nations, as well as civil agencies that has to do with Peacekeeping Operations.
38 students took this course: 23 from the Army; 4 from the Air Force and 11 police officers from different states of the country. The following participation deserved to be mentioned: Cpt Aron Horn, from the Germany Air Force and also female members of the Brazilian Army, as well all female members from the Brazilian Air Force and the Police Officers.
