CCOPAB’s commander takes part in the academic week of International Relations at UNICURITIBA

Curitiba (PR) – From 7 to 9 May, the Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center, COL Machado, took part in an academic week from International Relations at UNICURITIBA. At the occasion, COL Machado delivered a lecture on “Peacekeeping Operations as a tool to solve conflicts” for Law and International Relations students.

The event was also attended by professionals and professors such as Danielle Annoni and Professor Michele Hastreiter; Sir Pablo Mattos, from United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (ACNUR, acronym in Portuguese); Professor Karla Pinhel, Professor Gustavo Blum, Professor Thiago Assunção, Professor Edimar Brígido, Professor Violeta Caldeira, Professor Janiffer Zarpelon, Professor Andrew Traumann, Professor Eduardo Carvalho, Professor Carlos Magno Vasconcellos, Professor Rafael Gallo, Professor Andrew Traumann, Professor Thiago Hansen, Mrs. Mariana Batista Alessi, a former student of International Relations, Mrs. Nicole Rosner, a current student of International Relations; and Leonardo de León.

According to Mrs. Fernanda Visioni, the president of Paula Bonomini Academic Center, the lectures gave them the opportunity to understand the practice behind the theory regarding public agencies such as ACNUR and PKOs, topics that were discussed in details. It is worth mentioning that UNICURITIBA takes actively part in the Brazilian Research Network on Peacekeeping Operations (REBRAPAZ, acronym in Portuguese), which includes civil and military agencies that does research regarding the topic.
