Colonel (Infantry) ADENIR FERNANDES NOGUEIRA

When appointed to the position of Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, Colonel (Infantry) ADENIR FERNANDES NOGUEIRA was serving at the General Secretariat of the Army (SGEx), based in Brasília.

He was promoted to his current rank on 30 April 2021.

Born on 18 May 1974, in the city of Iguatemi - Mato Grosso do Sul, he is the son of ADENIR DORNELES NOGUEIRA (in Memoriam) and MARIA JORGINA PANIAGUA FERNANDES.

He joined the Brazilian Army on 18 February 1993, at the Brazilian Army Cadet Preparatory School, based in Campinas - SP.

On 29 November 1997, he was declared Infantry candidate-officer at Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN), in Resende - RJ.

In Rio de Janeiro, he completed his Captain Career Course (CCC) at the Advanced School for Captains (EsAO) in 2005, and the Command and General Staff Course at the Brazilian Army Command and General Staff College (ECEME) in 2015.

He was an instructor of the Basic and Infantry Courses at AMAN.

He commanded the Special Border Company, based in Epitaciolância – Acre, and the Command Coy of the 11th Military Region, based in Brasília – Federal District.

As a General Staff Officer, he headed the Controlled Products Inspection Section of the 12th Military Region, based in Manaus – Amazon; also, he was a member of the Strategic Management and Planning Office of the Army General Staff, based in Brasília.

He commanded the 22nd Infantry Battalion, based in Palmas – Tocantins.

In the field of peace operations:

- He speaks English and Spanish;

- He took the Basic and Advanced PDT Field Exercises, the Civil-Military Coordination and Protection of Civilians Courses;

He was posted as a Military Observer at the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE) and the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO); also, he was a member of BRABAT I in the 16th CONTBRAS in Haiti (MINUSTAH); and

- He was an instructor at the Argentine Joint Training Center for Peace Operations (CAECOPAZ).

Throughout his career, he was awarded the Military Merit Order Medal - Warrior Level, the Golden Military Medal, Bronze Troop Service Medal, the Pacifier Medal, Amazon Service Medal, Marshal Osório Medal - the legendary and the United Nations Missions Medals.

He is married to Mrs. PATRÍCIA BALBINO and they have two children: GABRIEL and MATHEUS.
