National Investigation Officer Course (NIO)

The National Investigation Officer Course is conducted at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB). It aims to enhance understanding of procedures, coordination activities, and responsibilities for conducting investigations of alleged misconduct by Brazilian military personnel during participation in United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions, while serving as contingent or staff components, Military Observers, or in the role of National Support Elements.

Duration

The course lasts a total of four weeks, developed in two phases: the first phase lasting two weeks in a distance learning modality, and the second phase, conducted in person, lasting two weeks.

Requirements

To enroll in the National Investigation Officer Course, the candidate must be a career military professional, preferably with knowledge in the legal field or a bachelor's degree in Law, or with experience in the Army Police area (or equivalent for other Armed Forces) who may be assigned to peacekeeping missions under the auspices of the United Nations. English proficiency is required, as the course will be conducted in this language.

Specific Preparation Course for Female Military Personnel for Peace Operations

The Specific Preparation Course for Female Military Personnel for Peace Operations is conducted at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB). It aims to provide complementary specific knowledge to military personnel not from the Brazilian Army's Military Combat Education Line, in order to better prepare them for participation in peace missions, in the roles of staff officer, staff assistant, and exceptionally, military observer, under the auspices of international organizations.

Duration

The course lasts a total of five weeks, developed in two phases: the first phase lasting two weeks in a distance learning modality, and the second phase conducted in person, lasting two weeks.

Distance Learning Phase: September 1 to 12, 2025; and
In-person Phase: September 15 to 26, 2025.

To enroll in the Specific Preparation Course for Female Military Personnel for Peace Operations, the candidate must be a female officer, warrant officer, or career sergeant of the Brazilian Army, other Regular and Auxiliary Forces, and Armed Forces of Friendly Nations. Candidates should be assigned to a UN mission or about to be deployed. English proficiency is required.

United Nations Military Observers Course (UNMO)

The United Nations Military Observers Course (UNMO Course) is conducted at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB). It aims to prepare military personnel to perform the tasks of a Military Observer in a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission, with a comprehensive training package combining Conceptual, Legal, and Operational Frameworks and incorporating relevant aspects of civilian protection, gender, Security Risk Management, and security against improvised explosive devices.

Duration

The Military Observers Course lasts a total of four weeks and is conducted in person at CCOPAB facilities.

1st Edition: June 2 to 27, 2025.
2nd Edition: October 3 to 28, 2025.

To enroll in the Military Observers Course, the candidate must be a career officer of the Brazilian Army, other Regular Forces, and Armed Forces of Friendly Nations. Candidates should be assigned to a UN mission or about to be deployed. English proficiency is required, and French proficiency is desirable.

United Nations Staff Officers and Assistants Course (UNSO)

The United Nations Staff Officers and Assistants Course is conducted at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB). It aims to prepare military personnel to perform staff tasks at Force Headquarters and Sector Headquarters of United Nations Peacekeeping Missions.

Duration

The Staff Officers and Assistants Course lasts a total of four weeks and is conducted in person at CCOPAB facilities.

Protection of Civilians Course (UN POC)

The Protection of Civilians Course (POC) conducted at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) aims to provide students with a comprehensive training package that combines aspects of Protection of Civilians, Child Protection, and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence for military personnel operating at the tactical level in a Peace Operation.

Duration

The Protection of Civilians Course lasts a total of three weeks, developed in two phases: the first phase lasting two weeks in a distance learning modality, and the second phase lasting one week, conducted at CCOPAB facilities.

1st Edition

Distance Learning Phase: June 16 to 27, 2025; and
In-person Phase: June 30 to July 4, 2025.

2nd Edition

Distance Learning Phase: November 17 to 28, 2025; and
In-person Phase: December 1 to 5, 2025.
