On May 11, CCOPAB hosted the Beret Handover Ceremony for the 2012 new recruits. The activity had the presences of the new soldiers' families and friends. The Commander of CCOPAB COL Baganha handed the beret to Private Juliano Andrade Ribas, who was the most distinguished soldier during Basic Individual Drill Instruction (acronym in Portuguese: IIB). In his speech, COL Baganha enhanced the importance of family values in the formation of the new military personnel.
In the period from 08 to 10 of May, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) hosted the II Workshop on Humanitarian Demining. The workshop´s objective was to update the knowledge of the instructors serving at the Center and establish the necessary level of expertise in explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) so that international monitors or supervisors can do their tasks concerning Humanitarian Demining in a more appropriate way.
On May 10, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) hosted Ms. Renata Giannini, the main researcher of Project "A better and shared Latin American focus on gender perspective in peacekeeping operations according to Resolutions 1325 and 1820 from the UN Security Council", developed by the Latin American Security and Defence Network (acronym in Portuguese: RESDAL).
FFrom April 30 to May 10, the city of Santiago in Chile hosted Peacekeeping Operations-Americas (PKO-A) 2012, a multinational exercise which encourages peacekeeping efforts in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
The Exercise had the participation of 16 countries from Central and South Americas and the Caribbean and was conducted by the Chilean Joint General Staff in cooperation with the U. S. Southern Command.
From April 24 to 27 of this year, Palácio Duque de Caxias hosted the Regional Apprenticeship of Social Communication of the Eastern Military Command (acronym in Portuguese: CML). The Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) was represented by First-Lieutenant (T) Figueiró, Chief of the Social Communication Division at CCOPAB. The event was opened by Lieutenant-General Barcellos, Commander of the Center of Social Communication of the Brazilian Army, who presented the perspectives of Social Communication of the Land Force for the year of 2012.
April 19, 2012 celebrated the creation of the Brazilian Army.
The Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center had its own celebration for the 364th anniversary of the Brazilian Army.
A parade in honor of the event took place at the patio of the Center. The focal point of the ceremony was the reading of the Order of the Day issued by the Brazilian Army's Commander, GEN Enzo Martins Peri. The document emphasized the 364 years of existence of the Army and the pillars on which it is based: HIERARCHY AND DISCIPLINE.
