On January 25, 2012, the Minister of Defense from Suriname Mr. Lamure Latour and his illustrious committee were hosted by the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB). The Brazilian Minister of Defense Mr. Celso Amorim suggested this visit during a meeting in Brasilia with Mr. Latour held in order to enhance more cooperation between the two countries concerning three topics: military affairs, combat to transnational crime and professional capabilities.
On February 29, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) was visited by two English Research Analysts - Dr. Matthew Preston, from the Multilateral Policy Directorate and Ms. Christine Elizabeth Bradley, from the Americas Research Group, both from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from the UK. The UK Defense Attaché, Col Marian Evans, was accompanying the researchers.
During this visit, the English delegation knew the Center’s facilities, a little bit more about the mission and the activities developed by CCOPAB.
On February 15, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) held a farewell ceremony for the Deputy Commander of the Center Marines Captain Alexandre Aballo Nunes, and the Chief of the Social Communications Division Lieutenant Commander Josiane Souza de Carvalho Brito.

On February 3, there was the handover ceremony at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB). The Commanding function was transmitted from Col Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa to Col Luiz Fernando Estorilho Baganha. Civilian and military authorities were present at the event, among whom the following should be highlighted: Lt Gen José Alberto da Costa Abreu, 1st Army Division Commander, Lt GenMário Lúcio Alves de Araújo, EsAO Commander, MG Carlos Maurício Barroso Sarmento, GUES-9th Motorized Infantry Brigade (School) Commander, Col André Luiz Novaes Miranda, CCOPAB’s former commander and Col Cunha, representing Gen João Carlos Vilela Morgero, Chief of Training and Deployment of the Ministry of Defense (MD).
OThe Advanced Drill for Pre-Deployment Training (acronym in Portuguese: EAOP) of the 16th Peacekeeping Contingent (BRABAT 1) was conducted in the city of Cristalina-GO and held from 05 to 10 of February, 2012.
With the presence of the Director of the Exercise Mr. Major General LUNDGREN (Commander of the 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade) and the joint action of military, police and civilian personnel, EAOP successfully contributed with the preparation of BRABAT 1, whose components will leave to Haiti in the first semester of this year.
Ms. MICHELLE BACHELET, former president of Chile, who is the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women (which supports Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) was received by the Minister of Defense, Celso Amorim, at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) on December 16, 2011.
