CCOPAB celebrates the International Day of UN Peacekeepers

CCOPAB takes part in a UN Military Observers Course

obs polonia03Captain Fausto Augusto de Sousa Pontes, CCOPAB instructor, took part in the 20th UN Military Observers Course at the Military Training Centre, in Kielce – Poland, from May 07 to 25, 2012.

The students were officers from Poland, Egypt, Slovakia, Vietnam, Georgia, India, Montenegro and Brazil In addition to exploring topics prescribed by the United Nations, it was an excellent opportunity to obtain new knowledge and exchange experience.

Anniversary Celebration for the Center’s Members born in May

aniv maio05On May 25, 2012, all members of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) got together at the leisure facility of the 11th Field Artillery Group (acronym in Portuguese: GAC), in order to congratulate those comrades who were born in May. As part of the celebration, the Center's members played volleyball and soccer, and after that, the get-together ended with a traditional Brazilian barbecue.

“Diálogo Magazine” representatives visit CCOPAB

dialogo02On May 22, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) was visited by professionals from Diálogo-Américas Magazine.

The visitors were hosted by Colonel Baganha, the Center's Commander, and were informed by him of the activities done and the courses offered by CCOPAB. After that, they went to the facility called "Espaço Integração", where they were introduced to the Training System for the Use of Legal Force (Combat Simulator).

CCOPAB’s 2012-1 Course for Peacekeeping Operations on its second week

epmp_2012-1_03On this Monday, May 14, students from the 2012-1 Course for Peacekeeping Operations started the second week of activities with instructions that dealt with the main tasks of the UN Police, Safety and Risk and Survival as a Hostage, all of which were conducted by Cap Helio from the Military Police of the State of São Paulo (acronym in Portuguese: PMESP).

In the afternoon of that same day, the students underwent their first practical drill on negotiation and mediation at the facilities of CCOPAB, during which they dealt with four different situations UNMO may face in their missions, such as: a checkpoint blocking a road, negotiation with local leaders and ways of mediating an important negotiation.

Visit of WAR COLLEGE committee to CCOPAB

visita_war_college_2012_02On May 14, 2012, a committee of eight students and two instructors from the US War College visited the facilities of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center.

The visitors were hosted by CCOPAB's Commander Coronel Baganha, and attended an institutional presentation concerning the Center. After that they went to Espaço Integração, a facility at CCOPAB where they had the opportunity to know and use the Training System of Legal Force Use (Combat Simulator).
