On August 18, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) celebrated the World Humanitarian Day by paying tribute to the Patron of the Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello, by means of a ceremony and a lecture for young students.
August 19 marks the World Humanitarian Day, which was set by the United Nations General Assembly on December 2008, in order to honor those who face harships to help people in need.
On August 06, the Mobile Training Team (MTT) from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) embarked on the Brazilian Navy Corvette Barroso, which will compose the Maritime Task Force (MTF) in the United Nations Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The objective of the MTT is to give its contribution to the training of the Brazilian Navy members who will be part of MTF/UNIFIL.
On July 31, General Paulo Humberto Cesar de Oliveira, Land Operations Commander (COTer, acronym in Portuguese) visited the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). The aim of the visit was to present the general the activities CCOPAB carries out, as well as its syllabus and facilities.
The United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) has recently selected Brazilian military members applying for a position in its office. Brazilian Army Colonel Ulisses and Commander (Navy) Carla Daniel went through a hard selection process and they will soon work in DPKO’s office, which is in the United Nations headquarters, in New York.
Rio de Janeiro – The main goal of the Field Exercise that was conducted from July 17 to 21 was to train the Military Police Peace Force Company, which is one of the Brazilian Army components that are available for the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System – UNPCRS.
