The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) was present in the 5th Latin America Aerospace and Defence (LAAD) seminar, which was held from 4 to 7 of April, at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro. On April 5, CCOPAB’s commander, colonel Ramires, delivered a lecture on “Peace Operations: the evolution of the Armed Forces in new operations”.
Between 27 of March and 7 of April, Mobile Training Teams (MTT) from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) headed to Manaus and Porto Velho (both in the north of Brazil), in order to train units from the Brazilian Air Force that will be held at the disposal of the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System (UNPCRS).
From 27 to 31 of March, the Course for Military Translators and Interpreters (ETMil, acronym in Portuguese) was held at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). The Course aimed at capacitating military personnel to act as interpreters and translators in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). The Course develops in its apprentices their intellectual capabilities, emotional control and their written and oral skills as it simulates the scenarios that are present in the daily missions in Haiti.
Between 20 and 31 of March, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried the Course on Logistics and Reimbursement in UN PKOs. The aim of the two week long course, comprising practical and theoretical instructions, was to prepare military personnel from the Brazilian Armed Forces to occupy positions related to management and logistics in UN Peace Operations.
Aiming to approach relevant topics regarding the integration between civilians and the military in UN peace missions, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried out the UN Civil-Military Coordination Course – CIMIC. This course was held from 20 to 24 of March. Members of the Brazilian Armed Forces, Auxiliary Forces, friendly nations (USA and Spain) and civilians from the International Relations area participated in the course.
Aiming at strengthening the cooperation bonds with international institutions, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) designated one of its members, Lieutenant (Navy) Rodrigo Souza, to be an instructor in the UN Military Expert in Mission Course, held in the Peace Support Training Center (PSTC), in Kingston-Ontario, Canada.
