From January 22 to 25, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) delivered instructions for the 15th Brazilian Contingent of the Maritime Task Force of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and for the crew of Independência Frigate, both designated to be deployed to Lebanon Operation XIII. The instructions were held at the Admiral Marques de Leão Training Center (CAAML, acronym in Portuguese).
The aim of the Course, which is held by the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) in partnership with Igarapé Institute, is to prepare civilians who work in unstable contexts. Roughly 25% of the countries with which Brazil established technical cooperation bonds in this century are considered fragile due to past or current conflicts, according to the Organization for Economic and Cooperation and Development (OCDE) and the World Bank.
Training United Nations employees to face hazardous situations and ensuring their safety while on duty were the goals of the Safety and Security Approaches in Field Environments Course (SSAFE).
China – Between November 27 and December 8, a representative of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) took part in the United Nations Staff Officer Course (UNSOC), which was held at the Peace Operations Center of the Chinese Ministry of Defense, in Beijing.
On December 4, 5 and 6, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried out the Preparation Course for the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (EPC DPKO, acronym in Portuguese). The Course aimed at testing the intellectual skills and emotional control of the attendees in technical interviews simulations in order to train them for the positions they have applied to work at DPKO at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA.
The objective of the third phase of the Military Experts on Mission Course (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese) was to train military and Police personnel from Brazil and Friendly Nations to work as Staff Officers, Military Observers and United Nations Police in UN peace operations.
