DSC_1666The activities on the third day of event were held at the Center for Personnel Studies (CEP, acronym in Portuguese), beginning at 0900h with the presentation of Col Herverton Francisco de Assis Maria, commander of CEP, explaining the historical background and also showing some curiosities related to that Center. Next, Mr. Manoel de Almeida e Silva gave an excellent lecture on Media Relations. At 1100h, Maj Alexandre Rodrigues Feitosa accurately approached the topics Rules of Engagement and legal aspects of PKOs.

Senior Leaders Seminar - second day

DSC_1014Activities started at 09:30 in CCOPAB with the first lecture on Civil Military Coordination by LTC José Carlos Leal da Silva Junior – Brazilian Army. After that, LCDR Fernando Antônio Rezende Brito spoke about the Organization of the Joint Mission Analysis Centre (JMAC), the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) and the Joint Operations and Tasking Centre (JOTC).

Foto EntradaWithin the period of 28 March and 01 April 2011, Rio de Janeiro hosts, at the facilities of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) and also of the Center for Personnel Studies (CEP, acronym in Portuguese), the Leaders Seminar – PKO Americas – 2011. This event is supported by the US Army South Command, having the Brazilian Army as its host.

DSC00323 The anniversary of the Marine Corps is March 07. Thus, on March 15, there was a Ceremony to remember the 203rd Anniversary of the Marine Corps, headed by the Navy Commander Admiral Julio Soares de Moura Neto. The event was in Fortress Fortaleza de São José, where messages from the Navy Commander and from the General Commander of the Marines, Admiral Marco Antônio Corrêa, were read.

Enrollment of Recruits at CCOPAB

DSC09366 On March 01, in a formal ceremony, CCOPAB welcomed the arrival of the new recruits. Thirty young men from Rio de Janeiro will serve at least a year of Military Service. The ceremony had the presence of relatives and other members of the Center. After the parade, CCOPAB commander, COL Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, invited the relatives for a snack while the Sound of Peace Band played and the projection of a film about the activities of the Center was shown.

EPSUPel Closing ceremony 2011/1

On March 4, in a solemn ceremony in CCOPAB, the Course for Platoon and Subunit Commanders (EPSUPEL 2011 / 1) was concluded. This Course lasted two weeks and aimed to prepare the assigned officers for the specific functions of Platoon and Subunit Commanders (EPSUPEL 2011/1).

Sixty-eight Brazilian Army officers and nine Brazilian Navy officers concluded the course.
