British Instructor will be part of CCOPAB’s strength from October

CHAMADAThe United Kingdom’s Defense Attaché, Colonel Marian Evans, and the First Secretary for Political Affairs, Mr. Andrew Ford, visited the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center(CCOPAB) on June 13 to make the final arrangements for the arrival of a British instructor, in October 2011, who will serve in the Center for six months. CCOPAB’s commander, Col Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, at that moment, explained the experience of the Center in supporting the training of the personnel for peace missions and showed the facilities and works which are being done at CCOPAB.

CCOPAB TAKES PART IN THE PKO-AMERICAS 2011 EXERCISE ORGANIZED BY THE BRAZILIAN AND US ARMIES

110504-A-0000X-008From May 2 to 13, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) participated in the Peacekeeping Operations Command Post Exercise, which took place in Brasília – DF. This exercise was developed as a sequence to the Seminar of Leaders, which took place at CCOPAB from March 28 to April 01 of the current year.

PKO-A 11 – Seminar of Leaders is a joint initiative of the Brazilian Army, through COTER (Ground Operations Center), and the United States Army South, which organized the whole exercise.

CCOPAB promotes another edition of the Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas

This is the word that best defines the heterogeneous group who concluded the 4th edition of the Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) from May 23 to 27, 2011. This group consisted of 06 military personnel (02 from the Brazilian Navy and 04 from the Brazilian Army), 28 known journalists and young people who have recently graduated, from different media (newspapers – o Estado de São Paulo, Folha de São Paulo, Extra, Diário Popular – magazines - Revista Piauí, Veja – TV channels - Rede TV, Rede Globo, TV Band, TV Record and TV Tribuna).

CCOPAB pays tribute to UN Peacekeepers

DSC_0247The United Nations established May 29 as the International Day of UN Peacekeepers due to the fact that in 1948 the UN Security Council authorized the first peacekeeping operation in Palestine, after the ceasefire for the Arab-Israeli conflict. Since then, the UN gather men and women of the armed forces of its member countries, which live in political, economical, and social stability, in order to contribute to the end of conflicts, social progress, and the defense of human rights in the endangered nations.

CCOPAB promotes a CIMIC meeting with the presence of the UN and of the Army Commander

DSC_0255Sport was the theme of the Course of Civil-Military Cooperation in Peacekeeping Operations which took place from 16 to 20 of May at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB). Around 50 people – among researchers, athletes and military personnel from Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile – debated on how to promote physical activities in areas of armed conflict to develop social values and foment peace. Edmond Mulet, the former representative of the UN Secretary-General in Haiti, Igor Kipman, the Brazilian ambassador in Haiti and General Enzo Martins Peri, Army Commander were present at the closing ceremony.

CCOPAB´s officer attends a course in Argentina

DSC02859 From 02 to 13 of May, 2011, CPT David Crispim de Carvalho, from CCOPAB´s Contingent Section, attended the Train of Trainers Course given by CAECOPAZ (acronym in Spanish for the Argentine Peace Support Training Center). The course aims at standardizing training methodology in UN´s Peacekeeping Operations.
