CCOPAB TAKES PART IN THE PKO-AMERICAS 2011 EXERCISE ORGANIZED BY THE BRAZILIAN AND US ARMIES

From May 2 to 13, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) participated in the Peacekeeping Operations Command Post Exercise, which took place in Brasília – DF. This exercise was developed as a sequence to the Seminar of Leaders, which took place at CCOPAB from March 28 to April 01 of the current year.

PKO-A 11 – Seminar of Leaders is a joint initiative of the Brazilian Army, through COTER (Ground Operations Center), and the United States Army South, which organized the whole exercise.

There were delegations from Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, the USA, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Paraguay, El Salvador, Uruguay and the United Nations, which consisted of military personnel from ground, naval, air and police forces.

During the first week of the exercise, the participants had lectures on recent experiences in peace missions and learned to use the electronic simulation systems. During the second week, the participants were divided into sectors, forming the complete structure of Command and Staff of a Peace force, in a fictitious country, in which the operations were carried out.

The delegation from CCOPAB was composed of representatives of military personnel from the Armed Forces and from the Military Police who integrated the structure of the direction of the exercise in the creation of incidents, assessment, and observation of lessons learned cells.
