On June 21, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center received the illustrious visit of Minister Norberto Moretti – Chief of the Division of International Peace and Security from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Together with Col Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, CCOPAB Commander, Mr. Moretti had the opportunity to visit the future cultural facility “Sérgio Vieira de Mello” as well as closely follow the progress of the constructions in the Center. After that, Col Pessôa gave an institutional lecture to Minister Moretti and to the entourage of the educational system Anhanguera.
Aiming at integrating and entertaining the staff from the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB), and as recognition of the dedication and professionalism for the accomplishment of the mission, a recreational event was carried out at the 2nd Marines Battalion, Humaitá Battalion, Ilha do Governador-RJ, on 17 June 2011. It started with a beach volleyball game followed by a soccer match and a bingo with lots of gifts to be raffled.
On June 11, 1865, fearless Brazilian people led one of the most important deeds of the Brazilian history: the victory of the Battle of Riachuelo, That battle was decisive for the favorable end of the War of the Triple Alliance.
In order to celebrate the Brazilian Navy´s Data Magna for the 146th Anniversary of the Battle of Riachuelo, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) accomplished a ceremony on June 13 which also celebrated the chevron and epaulette exchange of military personnel of the Navy stationed at CCOPAB.
The United Kingdom’s Defense Attaché, Colonel Marian Evans, and the First Secretary for Political Affairs, Mr. Andrew Ford, visited the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center(CCOPAB) on June 13 to make the final arrangements for the arrival of a British instructor, in October 2011, who will serve in the Center for six months. CCOPAB’s commander, Col Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, at that moment, explained the experience of the Center in supporting the training of the personnel for peace missions and showed the facilities and works which are being done at CCOPAB.
From May 2 to 13, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) participated in the Peacekeeping Operations Command Post Exercise, which took place in Brasília – DF. This exercise was developed as a sequence to the Seminar of Leaders, which took place at CCOPAB from March 28 to April 01 of the current year.
PKO-A 11 – Seminar of Leaders is a joint initiative of the Brazilian Army, through COTER (Ground Operations Center), and the United States Army South, which organized the whole exercise.
Integration!! This is the word that best defines the heterogeneous group who concluded the 4th edition of the Course for Journalists in Conflict Areas at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) from May 23 to 27, 2011. This group consisted of 06 military personnel (02 from the Brazilian Navy and 04 from the Brazilian Army), 28 known journalists and young people who have recently graduated, from different media (newspapers – o Estado de São Paulo, Folha de São Paulo, Extra, Diário Popular – magazines - Revista Piauí, Veja – TV channels - Rede TV, Rede Globo, TV Band, TV Record and TV Tribuna).
