On November 04, the Course for Commanders and Officers of the UNFIL and Subordinate Vessels (2013/2) started. The course is carried out in an auditorium at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB) and it has instructors from the Brazilian Navy and Army.
The PKO Advanced Drill of the Brazilian Engineering Company – 19th Contingent had its end on October 31. The experiences and lessons learned from the several simulated activities of the advanced drill contributed enormously for the excellent performance of the engineering troops to be deployed in Haiti.
The PKO Advanced Drill for the Brazilian Engineering Company – 19th Contingent has been developed on October 30 with more simulated exercises for the troops. Activities such as a deceased family member of one military person from the Brazilian contingent; civic and social actions in a local school, earth works and money withdrawal from SOGEBANK, demand a detailed planning and coordination of the actions demanded by the troops from the Brazilian Company in this phase.
During the 4th day of the PKO Advanced Drill, the following authorities were present: General João Carlos Vilela Morgero – Land Operations Commander; Lieutenant General Floriano Peixoto Vieira Neto – 2nd Army Division Commander; Lieutenant General Paulo Sérgio de Melo Carvalho – Underchief of the Operational Logistics of the Ministry of Defense; Major General José Carlos dos Santos – CAEx (Army Assessment Center) Commander; Major General Mauro Sinott Lopes – Chief of the 3rd Branch of the Land Operations Command; and Major General José Eduardo Pereira, 11th Light Infantry Brigade Commander.
From October 21 to November 1, Captain (Air Force) Márcio Simião de Souza took part in the United Nations Civil Military Coordination Training of Trainers Course (UN-CIMIC ToT), at the Regional Training & Conference Centre, Entebbe, Uganda. The aim of the objective was to diffuse the UN-CIMIC specialized training material.
In continuation of the PKO Advanced Drills (EAOP) of the Brazilian Battalion of the 19th Contingent, several simulated activities were held in the cities of Nova Odessa and Sumaré in the area of Campinas/SP throughout the day. Under CCOPAB’s coordination, there were exercises such as: meeting of leaders, joint patrol, accidents with multiple victims and encountering of dead bodies.
