The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center carries out the Subunit Commanders and Platoon Leaders Course (EPCOSUPEL, acronym in Portuguese) towards Peace Operations

Cascavel (PR) - From 25 January to 06 February, as per directives from the Land Ops Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese) and the Construction and Eng Department (DEC, acronym in Portuguese), the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (Sergio Vieira de Mello Center) sent a Mobile Training Team (MTT) to the garrison of Cascavel-PR in order to keep training contingents towards peace ops by delivering the Subunit Commanders and Platoon Leaders Course (EPCOSUPEL).

The aim of EPCOSUPEL was to contribute towards the training of the Mechanized Infantry Bn (PKF), from the 15 Mechanized Infantry Brigade (Cascavel-PR) and a Eng Coy (PKF), from the 4 Eng Group (Porto Alegre-RS), for the United Nations Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS).

The activity was divided into two weeks - the first one, mainly theoretical, on UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM) related issues and the second, basically practical, when theory was put into practice and lessons were consolidated under realistic simulations.

For the timeline of UNPCRS contingent training, EPCOSUPEL is the course coming right after the Unit Commanders and Joint Staff Course (EPCOEM, acronym in Portuguese), previously carried out in the same Cascavel-PR, from 01 to 04 December 2020. The phase to come is the one of the UN Pre-Deployment Basic and Advanced Field Exercises (EBOP and EAOP, Portuguese acronyms respectively).

Forty-one military students - 39 from the Brazilian Army and two from the Brazilian Air Force - attended the course. The training was held at both 33 Mechanized Inf Bn and 15 Log Bn in Cascavel-PR.
