The commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) Colonel Carlos Augusto Ramires Teixeira participated in the preparatory meeting for the VIII General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ) in Asunción, Paraguay, from 28 to 31 March.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – The certification ceremony held last Thursday 31 March, represented the end of the first course on Supporting Humanitarian Action in Responding to Emergencies and Disasters (SHARED) in Latin America. On the last day, the students were submitted to an exercise with questions about safe environment, how to obtain humanitarian aid, quick impact projects, protection of civilians, best practices and lessons learned.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On 30 March, the course on Supporting Humanitarian Action in Responding to Emergencies and Disasters - SHARED - was carried on. The students studied issues on the components of humanitarian actions, international laws, the functioning of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee, the cycle of the Humanitarian Program and complex emergencies.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On 29 March, the course on Supporting Humanitarian Actions in Response to Emergencies and Disasters (SHARED) started out. It is delivered by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs - OCHA, in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Defense.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - The ceremony to award the certificates, carried out on March 24, represented the end of the first 2016 Military Translators and Interpreters Course (ETIMIL, acronym in Portuguese).
Over the week, officers and NCOs from the Brazilian Army and an officer from the Brazilian Navy received several instructions and training, amongst which there were: stress management, technical translation and simultaneous and consecutive interpretations.
From March 13 to 18, CCOPAB carried out the reconnaissance in the city of Cristalina, GO, aiming at the preparation of the next Brazilian Contingent to be deployed in Haiti. The work consists of collecting data and logistical support for the planning and execution of the UN Pre-deployment Advanced Field Exercise which will take place in that city in April.
