CCOPAB holds Brazil-Argentina bilateral meeting

reuniao doutrina combinada 01From 3 to 5 of September, 2012, CCOPAB held a Doctrinal Meeting / Combined Peace Operation Brazil-Argentina which aimed at producing a Manual for Combined Peace Operations.
On the part of Argentina the following officers participated in the event: Mr. Colonel (Argentinean Army) Roberto Henrique Figueroa and Mr. Captain (Argentinean Navy) Jorge Armando Defensa.
On the part of Brazil, the following officers participated in the event: illustrious Major General Antônio Marcos Moreira Santos and Mr. Colonel João Humberto Dalla Torre, both from the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, the commander of the Center Mr. Colonel Luiz Fernando Estorilho Baganha, and officers serving at the Doctrine Division of COPAB.

Beginning of the Course of Humanitarian Demining

Desminagem-01On September 03, 2012, CCOPAB started the 3rd Course of Humanitarian Demining. This course aims at preparing military personnel to act as International Monitors or Supervisors in Humanitarian Demining missions under the aegis of international organizations.

The course is developed in four weeks, during which the apprentices are taught about international rules, the Ottawa Treaty, International Humanitarian Law, CIMIC activities, Gender, Technical Procedures of Humanitarian Demining and First Aid.

CCOPAB participates in the 30th Course of Social Communication held by the Brazilian Air Force

30Curso com soc 02From 22 to 31 of August 2012, one officer and one sergeant from the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) participated in the 2012 Course of Social Communication (acronym in Portuguese: CCS-BR 2012) held by the Center of Social Communication of the Brazilian Air Force (acronym in Portuguese: CECOMSAER) at the Military Conventions and Lodging Center of the Brazilian Air Force (acronym in Portuguese: CEMCOHA) in the city of Salvador (State of Bahia).

Parade for the Commitment to the First Rank, Pledge of Allegiance and Medal Handover.

formatura 1posto 04 On August 30, CCOPAB held a military parade for the pledge of allegiance of the soldiers who joined the Brazilian Army in 2012. On that occasion, Second Lieutenants Cruz and Baroni were committed to the rank of First Lieutenant, and there was the medal handover to military personnel serving at the Center. The ceremony was attended by family members and friends of the committed officers, the pledged soldiers and the military given honoring medals.

Beginning of the Preparatory Course for Subunit and Platoon Commanders 2012/1

epcsupel2012-1 03On August 13, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center started the Preparatory Course for Subunit and Platoon Commanders (acronym in Portuguese: EPCOSUPEL), which aims at supplying the tools so that the Brazilian military personnel of the contingent which will be in Haiti masters the highest levels of preparation.
The first two days of the course were marked by intense information concerning the basic training modules supplied by the UN, and after that the apprentices could have a whole day of practical activities, such as instructions of progression in the terrain and contextualized shooting, which allowed them to use their reasoning in order to make the best decisions, based on the situations experienced in the mission and on MINUSTAH's rules of engagement.

Course for Military Translators and Interpreters 2012

etimil2012  03From 06 to 10 August, the Course for Military Translators and Interpreters (ETIM) was carried out at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB).

There were 16 students, 05 military instructors and 03 civilian teachers who took part in the course. The students will be part of the Peacekeeping Force Battalions (BRABAT 1 and BRABAT 2) and the Engineering Company of the 17th Brazilian Contingent in Haiti.
