On September 17, 2012 the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (acronym in Portuguese: CCOPAB) hosted the apprentices of the Course of High Studies on Politics and Strategy – (acronym in Portuguese: CAEPE) of the year 2012.
On that event, officers from the armed forces of Brazil and friendly nations, as well as civilian authorities, visited Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facility and attended an institutional presentation made by Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Salomão, Chief of CCOPAB's Doctrine Division. After that, the visitors attended one more presentation made by Army Lieutenant Colonel Moleta about the participation of Brazilian personnel in Peacekeeping Operations.
Two instructors from CCOPAB Captain Alexandre Shoji and Captain Maurício Bernardes Miguel, participates in the seminar for the implementation of the gender issue in peacekeeping operations. The seminar has been held from 17 to 21 of September at the Argentinean Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CAECOPAZ) in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
From 17 to 21 of September 2012, the Commander of CCOPAB has participated in the 18th Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centers (IAPTC). This year the conference has been held in the city of Helsinki, Finland.
On September 13, 2012, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center was visited by a committee of Foreign Area Officers – FAOs from the US Army.
The visitors were hosted at the facilities of the Honor Room by the Center's Commander Mr. Colonel Baganha who presented the Center and the activities by means of an institutional speech. After that, the US officers were presented the Training System for the Use of Legal Force / Combat Simulator.
Lieutenant Colonel Salomão from the Brazilian Air Force was summoned in May 2012 to be a member of the Military Observers Team in UNSMIS - United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria. The mission aimed at monitoring the cessation of armed violence in all its forms by all parties and at monitoring and supporting the full implementation of the six-point plan of the Joint Special Envoy Mr. Kofi Annan.
Since August 27, 2012, Lieutenant Commander (Marines) Marinho and First Lieutenant (Army) Valdetaro, instructors at the Center, have participated in the International Course for Experts in UN Missions. The course has been held at the facilities of the School for Peace Missions "Ecuador", settled in the city of Quito.
This course will last five weeks and it aims at enabling experts to act in peace missions as liaison officers, military observers and staff officers of UN Peace Missions
