CCOPAB instructor qualifies as National Investigation Officer

Lima (Peru) – From 05 to 16 December 2022, Major Rodrigo BERBERT Eiras, an instructor at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB), participated as a student in the UN Training of Trainers Course (UN ToT) for National Investigation Officers (NIO), coordinated by the United Nations Integrated Training Service (ITS) with support from the Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) of the US Government.

The Course aimed at training and setting procedures to work as a NIO, in order to carry out investigations of potential serious misconduct in UN peacekeeping operations.

Military personnel from Australia and Bangladesh were instructors of the Course, as well as investigators from the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS), coming from Canada, Spain and the United States of America. In addition to the two Brazilian soldiers, there were students from the following countries: Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
