CCOPAB supports the training of the Battalion for UNPCRS

The main goal of the UN Pre-deployment Advanced Field Exercise is to capacitate the Infantry Battalion in order to be deployed by the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System (UNPCRS) at any part of the world, where it might be needed. The Exercise started on June 05 and it will end on June 09 in the city of Juiz de Fora-MG.

The 4th Light Infantry Brigade (Mountain) coordinates the Exercise and has the support of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). The aim is to provide the Infantry Battalion with practical situations based on CPTM (Core Pre-deployment Training Materials), which covers the key and necessary contents for those who take part in a UN peacekeeping mission. CPTM addresses the following topics: UN legal framework; human rights; child protection; women, peace and security; sexual exploitation and abuse; environment; logistics and rules of engagement.

By means of the Brazilian Army, an Infantry Battalion, an Engineering Company and an Army Police Company are trained on a permanent basis. All of these are to be employed in peace missions overseas. At the moment, the 10th Light Infantry Brigade (Mountain), which is stationed in Juiz de Fora and subordinate to the 4th Light Infantry Brigade, is the unit on a stand-by basis to be deployed by the Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System.

UNPCRS

The UN Member States provide troops and experts to be employed in UN peace missions, regardless place and time. The objective of the United Nations Peacekeeping Capabilities Readiness System is to set a dynamic process between UN and its Member States, so that it is possible to ensure readiness from the available peace forces.
