The National Communications Day is celebrated on 05 May. This date was chosen to pay homage to the birth of Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon, one of the most important icons for diffusing the communication systems in Brazil.He is the Patron of Communications.On this date, it is celebrated the Day of the Army Signals Branch.Furthermore, this year, it is the 150th birthday celebration of the Marshal.
As part of a continuous improvement of the assessment and certification processes of troops and individual soldiers for Peace Missions, and deeply restructuring the specific process of the Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT), the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) coordinated, under the guidance of the Land Operations Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese), the pre-deployment advanced field exercise (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese). On 27 April, CCOPAB completed the assessment of the 22nd contingent of the Brazilian Battalion; thus, certifying 100% of the troops involved in the exercise.
On 04 May, the ceremony of the 2015 privates enlistment was held at CCOPAB.Forty-two new privates from Rio de Janeiro and its metropolitan area will start their compulsory military service.Colonel José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes, CCOPAB commander, presided the ceremony; the families of the new privates were present as well.During the ceremony, it was possible to realize how proud the new privates were to begin this new phase of their lives in the Brazilian Army. Their families were also pleased to see them in the Army.
