CPT JULIO CEZAR MEDEIROS DOS SANTOS, instructor at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center, participated, as an instructor, in the UN Military Observers Course (UNMOC), from 07 June 2010 to 02 July 2010, in the German UN Training Center, located in Hammelburg, Germany. The course lasts for four weeks and has the purpose of preparing military observers for UN missions.
Within the period of 12-16 July 2010, the course for journalists in conflict areas was carried out at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB), in Rio de Janeiro. This activity was conducted by CCOPAB, by the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center (CCOMSEx) and by the UN Information Center in Brazil (UNIC-RIO).
When the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Mr. Ban Ki-moon, visited Brazil, he participated in a ceremony held in honor of the Brazilian citizens who had given their uttermost sacrifice in the earthquake that took place on January 12, 2010 while serving in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).
The following military personnel attended the Advanced Drill for Pre-Deployment Training (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese), of the 13th Contingent of BRABATT, Haiti Battalion, as guests: LTC (Marine Corps) Acosta and LTC (Army) Villagran, from Argentina, MAJ Proaño and SGT Acaro, from Ecuador, and LTC Robillard, from France. EAOP was held from 19 to 24 of June, 2010 at the 5th Military Region/Army Division in the city of Ponta Grossa, state of Paraná.
From May 24 to June 11, 2010, Capt Rafael Barbosa Pereira, Assistant of the Individual Missions Section of CCOPAB, took the United Nations Military Observers Course – UNMOC/10 in the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping - CUNPK, in New Delhi - India.
The activity gathered officers, students and instructors from Sri Lanka, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt, Japan, Nigeria, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Senegal, Lesotho, Botswana, Fiji Islands and India.
