This Wednesday, October 21, 2010, in the Noble Hall of the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center, the parade for the completion of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations by the first four fire fighters selected for a UN Peace Mission took place.
On October 13, 14 and 15, the instructions of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations were carried out at a fast pace, with the participation of several guest instructors.
The students of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations were divided according to the specificity of their missions and received specific instructions.
CCOPAB´s Commander COL Pessôa, participated in the opening ceremony of SiONU´s 9th edition, which was organized by Universidade Estácio.
The activity was held from 14 to 17 of October, 2010 at Universidade Estácio de Sá - Tom Jobim Campus. Its objective is to offer students the opportunity of simulation of events from the international agenda and to develop the multidimensional view which rules the debates of the important issues of the UN.
The first week of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations 2010-2 ended successfully.
It was an intense week of instructions, among which were: Introduction to UN Peacekeeping, Fundamental Principles of UN Peacekeeping, Rules of Engagement, Code of Conduct, Media Relation, Humanitarian Assistance, CIMIC, UN Communication, Stress Management, Negotiation and Mediation, Hygienic/Basic Life Support.
On October 7, 2010, the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center was honoured with the visit of illustrious LTG Ken Keen, Deputy Commander of the South Army of the United States, together with Mr MG Floriano Peixoto, Deputy Commander of the G-5 of the Brazilian General Staff and his assistant COL Dutra. The committee counted on eight American officers and was hosted by COL Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa, who made a lecture presenting the main projects of CCOPAB.
The second phase of the preparation of military observers was started at CCOPAB.
04 Oct 10. The second phase of the Course for Peacekeeping Operations 2010-2 (EPMP, acronym in Portuguese) started this Monday at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center. The course is previewed to end on October 29. The opening class was given by Mr COL Fernando Rodrigues Goulart, and dealt with his experience in peacekeeping missions.
