On May 20, 21 and 22, 2010, the Executive Board of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ, acronym in Portuguese) met in the neighborhood of Leme, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, for the event called Preparatory Meeting, which aimed at planning the 2nd General Assembly to be held in Brazil from 9 to 13 of August, 2010.
From 03 to 28 of May, the training course for Peacekeeping Operations for Military Observers, Staff and UN Police was carried out. The opening class was given by Major General Eduardo José Barbosa, Chief of the Operations Centers of the Western Military Command.
The objective of the training was to prepare military personnel who have been assigned to individual missions in UN Peacekeeping Operations.
From 12 to 14 of April, a Brazilian Army delegation visited some units of the Canadian Army. At that opportunity, CCOPAB visited the PEACE SUPPORT TRAINING CENTRE in Kingston, Ontario – Canada, to exchange information and acquire knowledge for future courses and trainings.
On May 18, 2010, the Commander of the Peacekeeping Operations Training Center (CI Op Paz), Coronel, Col Pessôa, and other members were visited by the Commander of the 1st Army Division, Lt Gen FERREIRA.
While visiting the center, the Commander of the 1st Army Division attended a lecture given by the Commander of the Center and afterwards, he got together with the officers, warrant officers and sergeants of the Unity.
Two military personnel of CIOpPaz traveled to the capital of Sweden to take part in a course in the headquarters of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
From April 5 to 9, 2010, Captain BRITO and Sergeant Major DO VALLE took part in a course named “Handling of deceased persons in armed conflicts and disasters”, at ECOGIA, ICRC Formation Center, in Sweden.
