Training Course for Peacekeeping Operations (EPMP) – 2010/1

From 03 to 28 of May, the training course for Peacekeeping Operations for Military Observers, Staff and UN Police was carried out. The opening class was given by Major General Eduardo José Barbosa, Chief of the Operations Centers of the Western Military Command.

The objective of the training was to prepare military personnel who have been assigned to individual missions in UN Peacekeeping Operations.

The EPMP received 23 officers of the Brazilian Army, 08 officers of the Military Police from the states of São Paulo, Pernambuco, Brasília, Alagoas, Bahia and Paraná and 04 officers from the following countries: Suriname, Paraguay, United Kingdom and Colombia. The activity took place in the CCOPAB facilities for 04 weeks and was carried out in English.

The training ended with a field exercise which lasted a week. This exercise was carried out in Gericinó Instruction Field and was the highlight of the preparation of the military personnel assigned to individual missions in UN Peacekeeping Operations.

During this period, the students found the same routine as the one they will find in their missions. For a better result, the exercise could count on the support of International Relations students from PUC, Cândido Mendes Faculty and IBMEC.
