CCOPAB participates in the course of the UN Department of Safety and Security in Brazil

The Brazilian office of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) carried out the Safe and Secure Approaches in Field Environments Course (SSAFE) in partnership with the Brazilian Peace Operation Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese). The course took place in the facilities of Itamaraty Palace and of CCOPAB from 29 November to 01 December.


The aim of SSAFE program is to guarantee the security of the UN personnel and to enable them to face risk throughout their tasks.

In its 9th edition, the training had the participation of representatives of UN agencies, funds and programs, as well as institutions as the Civilian, Military and Federal Police, Fire Brigade, Integrated Command Center, Office of Public Security, Institute of Public Security, Brazilian Red Cross, International Committee of the Red Cross, military personnel from CCOPAB, and security companies and managers.

After two days of theoretical classes, the participants concluded the course with one day of activities carried out by CCOPAB. The following subjects were addressed then: risk analysis, strategies of communication and negotiation in hostile environments, personal safety, movement techniques in risky areas, first aid and conduct as hostages.
