Brazil host the 21st Annual Conference of the International Peacekeeping Training Centres

The 21st Annual Conference of the International Peacekeeping Training Centres - 21st IAPTC started out this Monday, Sept 28, 2015. The event, which is promoted by the Brazilian Ministry of Defence, by means of the Brazilian Army, has gathered over 200 participants who represent 52 countries in the discussions about topics referring to the activities of Peace Operations.

The objective of the event is to promote partnerships on training and on the contributions for strengthening the structures of the regional associations. The conference was officially opened by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of IAPTC, Colonel Taufik Santoso, from Indonesia, who is representing the President of the Association, General Anto Mukti Putrano.

For him, the Conference enables the arising of actions, which allow approaching efficiently the issues, which are being faced by the current Peacekeeping missions. "What is important is to harness the military personnel with attitudes and skill for the mission and also to enhance the difficulty in their trainings in order to provide the continuous evolution of the troops", said Colonel Taufik.

Representing the Brazilian Minister of Defence, Mr. Jaques Wagner, the Head of the Brazilian Armed Forces Joint General Staff, General José Carlos de Nardi, highlighted the participation of Brazil in Peacekeeping Missions. "We have been solidary and tireless responsive to the calling of Peacekeeping Missions in a worldwide basis. We have been engaged in 50 of the 71 peacekeeping missions around the world. IAPTC carries out, in a legitimate way, in-depth discussions in its content, the study and the training of professionals involved in the missions", stated the General.

According to the Commander of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB), Colonel José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes, receiving the 21st edition of the Conference is actually a demonstration of the commitment of the country to Peacekeeping Operations. "The biggest challenge is to put together the necessary capabilities of the teams, in order to accomplish the missions of the UN Organization", he stressed.

The Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Eduardo Dias da Costa Villas Bôas, was in the opening ceremony and highlighted the active participation of Brazil in peacekeeping missions for 70 years, always with a lot of efficiency.

The 21st Annual Conference of the International Peacekeeping Training Centres – 21st IAPTC will be World Stage for the studies of peacekeeping missions until
the forthcoming Thursday, Oct 01, 2015, at the "Brasil 21" Convention Centre, in Brasília.
