CCOPAB welcomes the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of Western Hemisphere, US Department of Defense (DoD)
On 20 February, Dr. Rebecca Bill Chávez, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense of Western Hemisphere, US Department of Defense, visited the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center [CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese]. Dr. Rebecca was welcomed by the Commander of CCOPAB, Colonel José Ricardo Vendramin Nunes.
Colonel Vendramin presented CCOPAB's mission and organizational structure, the strength of each Armed Force in the Center, a brief view of the courses as well as future expectations to the Deputy Assistant Secretary and her delegation. Right after that, the delegation visited Sérgio Vieira de Mello Cultural Facility which holds an exhibition about Marshal Rondon.
Dr. Rebecca oversees security strategy and policy issues involving the countries of the hemisphere as well as U.S. government funding of hemispheric defense cooperation programs and the integration of U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Southern Command.
The Commander of the First Army Division, Lieutenant General José Alberto da Costa Abreu, was present at the event.
