Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center Command Handover Ceremony
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On 10 December 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center carried out its Command Handover Ceremony presided over by General André Luis Novaes Miranda, Head of the Amy Department of Education and Culture (DECEx, acronym in Portuguese). On the occasion, Colonel (Corps of Engineers) Márcio Carneiro Barbosa relinquished duties of CCOPAB Commander to Colonel (Armour) Carlos Alberto Moutinho Vaz, during the change of command ceremony.
The following guests and military authorities were present at the ceremony: LTG Kleber Nunes de Vasconcellos, Commander of the 1st Army Division; LTG Maurílio Miranda Netto Ribeiro, Deputy Head of the Army Department of Education and Culture; Veteran (LTG) Riyuzo Ikeda; MG Alexandre Oliveira Cantanhede Lago, Director of Military Technical Education; Veteran (MG) Walter Nilton Pina Stoffel; the families of the replaced commander and of the new commander; as well as commanders of military organizations in the garrison of Rio de Janeiro.
The following guests and civilian authorities also attended the ceremony: Ambassador Márcia Maro da Silva, Head of the Itamaraty Office in Rio de Janeiro; Dr. Eduarda Hamann, General Coordinator of the Brazilian Peace Operations Research Network (REBRAPAZ); Mr. Gabriel Valladares, Regional Legal Advisor (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay) of the International Committee of the Red Cross; Mr. André Simões de Oliveira, nephew and godson of Sergio Vieira de Mello; and representatives of the Consulates General of France, Argentina, and the United Kingdom.
