CCOPAB ends the 2021.2 edition of the UNSO, UNMO and UNPOL Courses

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 25 October to 12 November 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, a Brazilian Army Educational Organization, supervised by the Department of Military Technical Education, ended the third and last phase of the UNMO, UNSO and UNPOL courses - 2021.2 edition.

The courses, in the context of the pre-deployment training (PDT), aimed at preparing military and state police personnel to to hold positions of UN Staff Officers, UN Military Observers and Individual Police Officers (IPOs) in UN PKOs, where Brazil is a Troop and Police Contributing Country (TCC/PCC).

The courses were completely delivered in English, also abiding by the curricula set by the UN Department of Peace Operations: The Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM) and the Specialized Training Material (STM).

Thirty-five students were trained and qualified during this edition: 16 from the Brazilian Army, eight from the Brazilian Navy, six from the Brazilian Air Force and five from Brazilian State Police Departments. It is important to highlight female students represented 40% of the class.

It is expected that those students be deployed to the following UN Missions:
- United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA);
- United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO).
- United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO);
- United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS);
- United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon/ Land Force (UNIFIL); and
- United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
