CCOPAB delivers another edition of the Journalists and Media Advisors in Conflict Areas Course (EPJAIAC)

Rio de Janeiro, RJ - From 08 to 12 November 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - a Brazilian Army Educational Organization, carried out EPJAIAC (acronym in Portuguese) 2021, aiming at training and qualifying journalists and media advisors to act in conflict areas and unstable environments.

During the course, the students received instructions on communication, negotiation, first aid, firefighting, risk analysis and mitigation, minefield awareness, chemical biological radiological and nuclear defense (CBRND), and the like.

Under the supervision of the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center (CCOMSEX, acronym in Portuguese), 16 press and media professionals, from the following institutions, attended this course edition:
- BAND TV Channel, BAND Amazonas TV Channel, GLOBO Rio TV Channel, GLOBO News, MORENA TV Channel (GLOBO affiliated), Record Rio TV Channel, ITAPUAN TV Channel (RECORD Salvador affiliated), Agora RN (Newspaper) e 98 FM Belo Horizonte Radio Station; and
- Media advisors from Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly, from the government of Pará, from the government of Mato Grosso, from INFRAERO (a Brazilian Governmental corporation), from Marabá Correio do Carajás Portal and from the Voice of Xingu Portal.

It is important to highlight the participation of representatives from the Brazilian Ministry of Defense (MoD), from the Brazilian Army Social Communication Center, from the Brazilian Navy Social Communication Center as well as from the Brazilian Air Force Social Communiaction Center.

The activity was also enriched with lectures given by journalist Marcos Uchoa, by Professor Karenine Rocha (Brazilian Army Center for Personnel Studies), by the Brazilian Veteran (Army Colonel) Carlos Frederico Gomes Cinelli and by Major Gabriela (Head of the Social Communication at the Eastern Military Command), all of whom have extensive experience in the subjects taught.

Furthermore, EPJAIAC 2021 relied on the significant support from the following military organizations in Vila Militar:
- Command Coy of the Airborne Infantry Brigade, Airborn Pathfinder Coy, 8 Airborn Artillery Group, 57 Motorized Infantry Battalion, 11 Army Military Police Bn, Logistics School for NCOs, Army Specialized Training School, Eastern Training Center and Afonsos Military Air Base.
