CCOPAB welcomes officer from the Republic of Argentina

Rio de Janeiro, RJ. On 14 October 2021, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - a Brazilian Army training center subordinate to the Department of Military Technical Education (DETMIL, acronym in Portuguese), hosted and welcomed an officer (OINA, acronym in Portuguese), from the Republic of Argentina.

Major (Artillery) Guillermo Andres SOMIGLIANA, appointed by the Argentinean Ministry of Defense as OINA, is from the Joint Training Center for Peace Operations (CAECOPAZ, acronym in Spanish). He will work at CCOPAB Doctrine Division for a period of twelve months.

The presence of instructors and monitors, from friendly nations, in Sergio Vieira de Mello Center is an excellent opportunity for technical and professional continuous improvement, as well as to share experience with CCOPAB instructors; also, to improve the learning process of the military, police and civilian personnel who take training courses before being deployed to Peacekeeping Operations and humanitarian missions, under the aegis of international organizations (UN and OAS).

Major SOMIGLIANA is a former peacekeeper in the United Nations Iraq-Kuwait Observation Mission (UNIKOM) in 2001, and in the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO), in Israel, in 2011.

CCOPAB and CAECOPAZ are members of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (ALCOPAZ, acronym in Portuguese).
