CCOPAB carries out CPoC Course

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - From 16 to 20 November, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - carried out, for the first time ever, the Comprehensive Protection of Civilians Pilot Course, whose aim was to train military and police personnel to hold positions regarding PoC in UN PKOs.

The course, entirely offered in English, was divided into two phases: the first, on e-learning basis, lasting for one week, in which students familiarized themselves with CPTM. The second, on site at the facilities of CCOPAB, lasting for one week, in which students received STM lessons.

Thirty-one students attended this very first edition: 16 from the Brazilian Army, 04 from the Brazilian Navy and 11 from national State Police Departments.
Apart from CCOPAB members, we can highlight the participation of the following guest instructors: LTG (Ret.) Elias Rodrigues Martins Filho, former MONUSCO Force Commander; MG Jose Ricardo Vendramin Nunes, former CCOPAB commander, currently from the Land Ops Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese); COL (Ret.) André Silva de Mendonça, from Rio de Janeiro State Police; COL (Ret.) Maurício de Araújo, from São Paulo State Police; MAJ Gedeel Machado, from the Officer Advanced School (EsAO, acronym in Portuguese); MAJ José Renato Serrano, from the Army Commander’s Office; and Professor Gustavo Macedo, from the University of São Paulo.
