CCOPAB celebrates the International Day of UN Peacekeepers
Rio de Janeiro - On 29 May, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, celebrated the International Day of UN Peacekeepers.
On that occasion, CCOPAB commander - COL Márcio Carneiro Barbosa, former UN Military Observer in East Timor, read the Order of the Day from the Defense Minister.
This date refers back to 29 May 1948, when the UN Security Council authorized, for the first time, a UN Peacekeeping mission to monitor the Armistice Agreement after the Arab-Israeli ceasefire.
Historically, Brazil is a traditional UN TCC and PCC, standing out for the performance, conduct and discipline of its deployed members.
