CCOPAB receives delegation of the War College from the Republic of Colombia

Rio de Janeiro, RJ – On 24 September 2019, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese), Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, received the visit of the General Staff Course of the War College from the Republic of Colombia. The delegation consisted of 31 student officers and Rear Admiral Juan Ricardo Roza Obregon, who was responsible for the delegation. Colonel Jose Israel Bejarano Daza, Colombian Defense Attaché, and Lieutenant Commander Yuri Duarte de Almeida, coordinating officer from Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, were also present.

The purpose of the visit was to enable the international strategic practice of the War College as part of the academic activities. Among other places, the delegation is also visiting military units and facilities in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo as well.

Rear Admiral Juan Ricardo Roza Obregon was received by the CCOPAB Commander and then by the officers. During the institutional lecture, the visitors were able to learn about the Center, as well as some aspects related to the Brazilian contributions to peace operations.

The activity also included a visit to the facilities, including the Haiti Memorial, a monument that pays tribute to the Brazilian blue helmets killed in the earthquake that struck that country in 2010. In the "Delta" Camp, the delegation had the chance to witness an activity of the UN Military Observer / UN Staff Officer / UN Police Officer Course.

At the end of the activities, Rear Admiral J. Rozo signed CCOPAB's Honor Book and exchanged institutional souvenirs.
