CCOPAB carries out Civil-Military Coordination Course for cadets and undergraduates
Rio de Janeiro - Between August 20 and 24, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) carried out the Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC), which aims at spreading knowledge regarding coordination tasks in United Nations operations. This was the first edition to take Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN) fourth year cadets as attendees.
The Course was entirely held in English and had twenty-nine attendees, being: 11 from AMAN (one from Guyana, three from Namibia, one from Suriname and one from Vietnam); one first lieutenant also from the Military Academy; two cadets from Barro Branco Military Police Academy; two cadets from Dom João 6th Military Police Academy; and thirteen civilian college students from UNICURITIBA, Santa Catarina Federal University, Rio de Janeiro Catholic University and São Paulo State University
The Course was an opportunity to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge, and train the attendees to work and possibly be deployed in a mission by means of the Brazilian agreement regarding the United Nations Peacekeeping Capatibility Readiness System (UNPCRS).
Besides, the Course also trained the attendees to interact with different members found in a multidimensional environment of Peace Operations; plan and work in a combined joint staff; and interact with people in order to integrate processes.
The Course counted on the participation of civil and military experienced intructors in Civil-Military Coordination. They were as it follows: Military Police Colonel Hélio Tenório dos Santos; Military Police Major Melissa Rodrigues da Rocha; Captain Carlos Vinicius Ottoni Bittencourt; 1st Lieutenant Thiago de Lima Lobato; 1st Sergeant Raniery Franco Oliveira do Nascimento; Fernanda Kundrát Brasil; Larissa Pereira de Almeida; and Tomázia Munhoz.
