Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From 27 July to 14 August, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - carried out the Civil-Military Coordination Course (CIMIC), aiming at preparing military, police and civilian personnel to hold positions related to the UN System of Civil Affairs, mainly to Civil-Military Coordination.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Instructors and monitors from the Corps of Engineers, members of the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, took part in the Virtual Seminar XI on Humanitarian Demining Doctrine, organized by the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), in Washington, DC - USA.
On 06 August 2020, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - took part in the first online workshop organized by the civilian committee of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Training Centers (ALCOPAZ). The theme of the workshop was “Training Latin American Civilians towards Peace Operations.” As guest lecturers, there were Dr. Karla Pinheiro, a professor at UNICURITIBA and Mrs. Bia Albernaz Rocha de Oliveira, with former UN experience in the civilian component.
From 03 to 07 August 2020, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - supported the mobilization process of nationals who are to work as the Jungle Warfare Training Team (JWTT) when deployed to the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO).
From 27 July to 07 August, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center, in coordination with the State Fire Department and State Police General Inspectorate/ Land Ops Command (COTER, acronym in Portuguese), delivered UNPOL instructions to CPT Tatiana de Campos Simões, from Santa Catarina State Police and 1LT Keyla Wosniak Polli, from Paraná State Police.
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - Privates from the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center - Sergio Vieira de Mello Center - took part in the instruction about Law and Order. The subject is part of the Basic Military Training (BMT) to be given to privates, encompassing instructions on Checkpoints (CKPT) and Static Points. The activites were the consolidation of BMT for 2020 new recruits.
