CCOPAB starts the international course for military, police and civilians on UN Civil-Military Coordination

Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - On 26 June 2023, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) started the on-site phase of the UN Civil-Military Coordination Course (UN CIMIC), aiming at preparing military, police and civilian personnel to hold positions related to the UN System of Civil Affairs.

After two weeks of e-learning, in which the topics of the Core Pre-deployment Training Material (CPTM) were addressed, the on-site phase of the course, to continue until 30 June, will address the specific subjects of Civil-Military Coordination in the Specialized Training Material (STM); both materials were developed by the UN Department of Peace Operations.

Developed entirely in English, this edition received 34 students from the following institutions and countries: eight from the Brazilian Army, six from the Brazilian Navy, three from the Brazilian Air Force, eight from State Police Departments (Ceará, Federal District, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina), five Civilians, and four military personnel from Guyana and Namibia.

In addition to CCOPAB Instruction Team, the first day of the course also had the presence of guest instructors, as Mr. RAFAEL LEVY from the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), and Major GABRIELA, a pioneering Brazilian female military in the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS).
