CCOPAB completes the Peace Operations Female Troops and Police Officers Course
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – From 21 November to 02 December 2022, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) carried out the Peace Operations Female Troops and Police Officers Course (EPESFOP, acronym in Portuguese) , training 20 future blue helmets, ten from the Brazilian Army and the other ten from the State Police Departments of Alagoas, Bahia, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo.
The course was created in order to increase the female participation in peace missions, in line with a series of the United Nations Security Council resolutions, within the context of the “Women, Peace and Security” Agenda and the “Uniformed Gender Parity Strategy”. EPESFOP aims at complementing specific knowledge in order to better train the students to participate in complex peace operations. In practice, female tropps are required to show emotional control, resistance to fatigue in tough situations, and the like.
On 02 December, there was a videoteleconference with Lieutenant General AFFONSO DA COSTA, Force Commander in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). Next, there was the course closing ceremony, attended by Colonel MARTINS, from the Army Department of Education and Culture (DECEx); Colonel VICTOR HUGO, from the Land Operations Command (COTER); and Sergeant CASTILHO, from the Department of Military Technical Education (DETMil).
