Handover Ceremony at The Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center
On February 3, there was the handover ceremony at the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center (CCOPAB). The Commanding function was transmitted from Col Pedro Aurélio de Pessôa to Col Luiz Fernando Estorilho Baganha.
Civilian and military authorities were present at the event, among whom the following should be highlighted: Lt Gen José Alberto da Costa Abreu, 1st Army Division Commander, Lt Gen Mário Lúcio Alves de Araújo, EsAO Commander, MG Carlos Maurício Barroso Sarmento, GUES-9th Motorized Infantry Brigade (School) Commander, Col André Luiz Novaes Miranda, CCOPAB’s former commander and Col Cunha, representing Gen João Carlos Vilela Morgero, Chief of Training and Deployment of the Ministry of Defense (MD). Mr. André Simões de Mello who represented the family of CCOPAB’s patron, Sergio Vieira de Mello, was present at the event. The presences of Ms. Rebecca Reichmann, from UN Women (Elimination of Violence against Women), Ms. Veronique Collage, Consulate Agent and Cultural Attaché from the Belgium Consulate and Ms. Cristiane Pilini, representing Mesquita City Hall – RJ, among other authorities, are also to be highlighted.
After the Handover Ceremony and the unveiling of the picture of the substituted commander, the guests were invited to visit the Integration Pavilion, and its rooms: Alfa Omega – Shooting Simulator Device; Novo Horizonte – Auditorium; and Adsumus – Humanitarian Demining, and also the Sergio Vieira de Mello Cultural Center, attached to the Brazilian Peacekeeping Operations Joint Center. At the opportunity, the Peace Sound Band of CCOPAB, counting on the participation of military personnel of the Independent Company of Military Police of Rio de Janeiro and military personnel from the Music Band of the 1st Motorized Infantry Brigade (School) carried out musical performance during the cocktail service.
