CCOPAB represents Brazil in the Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres

Sarajevo (Bósnia e Herzegovina) – Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - The Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) took part in the 22nd Annual Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC). The aim of the conference is to promote training partnerships and contribute to the strengthening of the structures of the regional associations. The event took place from September 26 to 30 and had the participation of 197 people from 55 countries.

The conference was officially opened by Lieutenant General Glaucio Lucas Alves, from the Brazilian Army and current IAPTC President. Local leaderships, such as the Bosnian Ministry of Defense, Ms. Marina Pendes, and Bosnian generals, were also present at the event.

Colonel Carlos Augusto Ramires Teixeira, CCOPAB Commander, contributed to the conference by delivering a lecture on "Evaluation to Enhance Performance", in which he highlighted the Brazilian system ofevaluation and certification for pre-deployment training. The presentation was done together with Dr. Ilana Lancaster from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP).

During this edition, the conference promoted sessions with a daily sequence of three lectures, questions and answers (Q&A) and a group discussion followed by the presentation of the results. The following themes were addressed: "The Future of Peacekeeping Training from a Training Perspective by International Organizations"; "Training Together to Work Together: Military, Police and Civilian Perspectives"; "New Technologies, Leadership in the Field and Training to Prevent and Respond to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse"; and "Peace Reviews and Their Future Implications for Training".

The discussions carried out during the conference also focused on the UN Secretary-General's report on the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations (HIPPO) and the UN Strategic Guidance Framework.
