CCOPAB STARTS BRABAT 24’ EAOP

Cristalina (GO) – On April 19, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB, acronym in Portuguese) started the UN Pre-deployment Advanced Field Exercise (EAOP, acronym in Portuguese) meant to prepare the troops of the Brazilian Battalion (BRABAT) which will be part of the 24th Brazilian Contingent for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

Major General Heber Garcia Portella, Commander of the 3rd Motorized Infantry Brigade, Colonel José Arnon dos Santos Guerra, BRABAT Commander and Colonel Carlos Augusto Ramires Teixeira, CCOPAB Commander and Director of the exercise, were present at the opening of EAOP.

This is the final preparation phase of the Brazilian Battalion in which different situations that the troop will face in Haiti will be simulated on the streets of Cristalina and Domiciano Ribeiro. This exercise has the participation of 675 military personnel of BRABAT, composed of military personnel from the Army, Navy and Air Force, and 237 military personnel who work in the coordination, simulation and security of the exercise.

EAOP will end on April 29 and on May 17, the troops will start their rotation to go to Haiti for a six-month tour of duty.
