End of the Unit Commanders and Joint Staff Course for CONTBRAS 22
Rio de Janeiro (RJ) - The ceremony to give certificates to the students carried out on the morning of last Friday represented the end of the Unit Commanders and Joint Staff Course (EPCOEM, acronym in Portuguese) for the 22 Brazilian Contingent (CONTBRAS) to be deployed in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti.
The course had a preliminary phase of three days in Brasília where the students had instructions on UN Core Pre-Deployment Training Material (CPTM) and then, they had one week at the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) where they could have classes on the Haitian National Police, UN Logistics and Rules of Engagement; there was also a CPX applied on the last two days in which the response capability of the Commanders and his Officers were practiced when they had to tackle typical mission situations.
The course had 42 military students, members of the Brazilian Battalion, Brazilian Engineering Company and Brazilian Marines, all of them integrating CONTBRAS 22.
