Ministry of Defense officially opens the Workshop on Women Protection in PKOs
Itaipava (RJ) - On 25 November, there was the opening ceremony of the Workshop on Women Protection in PKOs - an international event coordinated by the Ministry of Defense and carried out by CCOPAB. Lieutenant General Álvaro Gonçalves Wanderley, Deputy Chief of Peace Operations in the Brazilian Armed Forces Joint Staff, chaired the ceremony. The event, which goes up until 28 November, aims at discussing relevant aspects regarding normative instruments, structures on the ground and peacekeepers procedures towards the protection of women in conflict areas where UN PKOs were established. At this event, there are military personnel from Brazil as well as representatives from Argentina, Uruguay and Ecuador. On the first day, we can highlight the participation of Nadine Gasman - UN Women Representative.
