CCOPAB carries out Civil-Military Coordination Course

From September 15 to 19, the Brazilian Peace Operations Joint Training Center (CCOPAB) carried out the second edition of the 2014 Civil-Military Coordination (CIMIC) Course.

Besides sharing information on the participation of our Armed Forces in Peace Operations and on support in natural disasters with the civilian participants, the objective of the course was to prepare the military personnel who will work with CIMIC in the 21st Brazilian Contingent in Haiti.

The execution of the course was very well assessed by the participants. Fernanda Magalhães, a student of International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ), stated: "That was the first time I was in contact with military personnel, and, for me, it was a wonderful experience. Here, at CCOPAB, I had the chance to get to know how professionally they carry out their work. This is another stimulus for me, since I intend to act in the field when I graduate. I know I will be able to count on the great support given by our Armed Forces".

Others also highlighted the quality of the facilities and CCOPAB's supporting material. "Besides taking part in this course, I do an internship at CCOPAB. I am happy I can count on an institution that is well prepared and has an excellent collection for research." - said Roberta Helena dos Santos, 20 years old, student of International Relations at Fluminense Federal University (UFF).

Thirty-two students participated in the course, among whom 07 were civilians, 20 military personnel from the Army, 04 from the Navy and 01 from the Air Force.
