Military Translators and Interpreters Course

Course Description

The course is divided into two phases:

1st Phase - E-learning - lasts for five weeks (80 hours). In this phase, the military personnel shall demonstrate their linguistic competence in English or in the native language of the host country. They should also get to know not only the work performed by a translator and interpreter but also the theoretical background of translation and interpretation studies.
2nd Phase - carried out at CCOPAB's facilities, lasts for a week and aims at enabling them to work as translators and interpreters in peace missions and in a multicultural environment.

Objective
Evaluate the military volunteers to:

- perform as translators and interpreters during a peace mission.
- demonstrate their linguistic competence in the English Language and in the native language of the host country to carry out tasks related to translators and interpreters in a peace mission.
- perform as translators and interpreters during a peace mission, in a multicultural environment, according to the assignments of the Army Commander's Office;
- stand out the following features of the affective domain: self-confidence, impartiality, discretion, adaptability, coherence and communicability.

Language: English and French

Target audience: military personnel assigned for missions abroad, under the aegis of international organizations.
