Capt Fábio José Mesquita de Araújo Maciel took part as an instructor of the “Predespliegue” course of the 8th Paraguayan Contingent in Haiti, which was carried out at the “Centro de Entrenamiento Conjunto de Operaciones de Paz (CECOPAZ)”, in Asuncion – Paraguay, from May 09 to June 11, 2010.
During his participation, he delivered operational techniques and UN standardized basic material instructions. 31 military personnel – officers, warrant officers and sergeants – took part in the course.
On June 16, 2010, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center received the official visit of illustrious GEN ADRIANO, Chief of the Eastern Military Command who was followed by Mr GEN FERREIRA, Commander of the 1st Army Division and by MG SCHNEIDER, Commander of the 4th Motorized Infantry Brigade. .
On June 11, 2010, Sergio Vieira de Mello Center was honoured by the visit of students from the Institute of Higher Military Studies of Portugal (IESM, acronym in Portuguese).
The committee was headed by Mr Rear Admiral Luis Manuel Fourneaux Macieira, Director of IESM.
On June 1, 2010, EsACosAAe’s instructors and students visited CI Op Paz.
At that time, the visitors could get acquainted with the facilities of the Center and attend a lecture about CI Op Paz and Peacekeeping Operations under the auspices of the UN given by Capt Derré.
On May 20, 21 and 22, 2010, the Executive Board of the Latin American Association of Peacekeeping Operations Training Centers (ALCOPAZ, acronym in Portuguese) met in the neighborhood of Leme, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, for the event called Preparatory Meeting, which aimed at planning the 2nd General Assembly to be held in Brazil from 9 to 13 of August, 2010.
From 03 to 28 of May, the training course for Peacekeeping Operations for Military Observers, Staff and UN Police was carried out. The opening class was given by Major General Eduardo José Barbosa, Chief of the Operations Centers of the Western Military Command.
The objective of the training was to prepare military personnel who have been assigned to individual missions in UN Peacekeeping Operations.
